Government allocates UAH 4 million for renovation of St. Andrew's Church in Kyiv
The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine allocated UAH 4 million for repair and renovation of St. Andrew's Church, which stands in the center of the capital.
It was stated at the press conference by First Deputy Director of the National Reserve St Sophia of Kyiv Vadym Kyrylenko, a UNN journalist reports.
"The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine allocated UAH 4 million for repair and renovation of St. Andrew's Church. At the moment I can say that the state of emergency in the church was released, the works on renovation are underway,” he said.
According to him, the funds will be spent on restoration of the façade and domes. The decorating workis ongoing.
However, as Kyrylenko notes, UAH 6.5 million more are needed for complete restoration of the church.
St. Andrew's Church in Kyiv is a historical and architectural monument of the mid-18th century. It is built on the Dnieper slopes, which arelinked in the chronicle with St Andrew’s Christian sermon in the lands of the future of Kyivan Rus. The church was built by architect Rastrelli in 1747-1762. The construction works were conducted by architect Michurin.
