The parish of St. Andrew The First-Called-Apostle of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Odesa opened a shop of Christian literature selling works of the Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox authors.

According to the parish priest, Fr. Ruslan Ostafii of UGCC, the main mission of the shop is to familiarize the residents of Odesa with the modern Greek Catholic Theology and to help those, who have already found God and wish to develop, to deepen their faith.

“The need for Greek Catholic Theological literature in Odesa has been noticed in Odesa since quite a long time ago. The residents of Odesa could borrow such literature only in the parish library, whereas now, one can buy important editions to study them more thoroughly at home.”

The parish book shop sells books on the liturgy, Christian and family psychology, works of the fathers of the Eastern Church, catechisms, prayer books and books on the history of the Ukrainian Church.

“The books offered by our shop include real rarities, which cannot be bought anywhere now. As a rule, these are books which were once published in small numbers of copies, including the times of persecutions, in diaspora, or editions which have already been sold out. In this aspect, we have an advantage over other cities of Ukraine,” said the priest. According to him, by the opening of the Theological courses of the Ukrainian Catholic University in September, another lot of specialized Theological literature will be brought to Odesa.

“Now, our parish will offer the full cycle of spiritual formation and Odesa, which is known for its book traditions, will be able to appreciate in a fitting manner,” stressed the priest.
