On March 25, within the framework of the annual prayer initiative of the Council of Bishops' Conferences of Europe (CCEE), the Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, led the Divine Liturgy for the victims of the brutal war and peace in Ukraine at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Kyiv. On this day, the bishops of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church also unite in this prayerful intention in their cathedral churches.

This was reported by the Information Department of the UGCC.

In his sermon, His Beatitude Sviatoslav emphasized that prayer is now lifted for those who gave their lives for our homeland and our people.

"These days, the entire Catholic world, particularly in Europe, is constantly praying and fasting for Ukraine," the Primate said.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav emphasized that today, March 25, according to the new style to which the UGCC is switching from September 1 of this year, the feast of the Annunciation of the Most-Pure Virgin Mary is celebrated. And on this day of the Annunciation, he noted, the baton of prayer for the eternal rest of all those innocently killed in Ukraine and for the peace and victory of Ukraine passes to us.

"Today, we feel united by this chain of continuous prayer with Catholic Christians from different European countries," the head of the UGCC said.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav thanked the good people from all over the world who stand in solidarity with Ukraine and pray for its victory: "Today we thank the whole world, all good people, for solidarity with Ukraine, for daily tireless prayer, for daily and tireless help. We can now tell them from Ukraine: "your solidarity with us, prayer, humanitarian aid really saves lives, while any indifference kills."
