In the Archdiocese of Curitiba of St. John the Baptist, in Porto Unian and Uniao da Vitoria, the 75th anniversary of the presence and ministry of the Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Virgin Mary in the Heart of Mary School and in pastoral work at the parish of St. Basil the Great was celebrated.

This was reported by the press service of the Archdiocese of St. John the Baptist in Curitiba, according to the Information Department of the UGCC.

The solemn event was attended by Archbishop and Metropolitan Volodymyr Kovbych of Curitiba, parish priest of St. Basil the Great, Fr Joachim Sedorovych, parish vicar Fr Luis Pedro Polomanei, as well as numerous clergy, Sisters Servants from all over Brazil, Mr Jonatas Braga, a representative of the Positive Education System, guests, former teachers, students' parents, family members, friends and benefactors. Metropolitan Volodymyr Kovbych led the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy.

This year, celebrating its 75th anniversary, the Heart of Mary School has 520 students and 73 employees, including teachers, tutors, educational and administrative staff, and three nuns.

During the celebration, students of the local school presented the history of the mission of the Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Virgin Mary from the first challenges to the present day. In the “Time and Memories of the Heart” performance, they demonstrated the moments of the arrival of the first sisters - Josaphata Voitovych and Neonila Onysko - to Brazil.

The school orchestra, consisting of students and community members, performed the anthem of the Immaculate Mary Education Network. An icon of the co-founder of the Congregation of the Servants of the Immaculate Virgin Mary was presented. It was brought by students who, together with teacher Barbara Alves, sang the song “Sister Josaphata” (written by the teacher).

In her welcoming remarks, the provincial superior of the village, Deonisia Diadio, noted that the Heart of Mary School celebrates its 75th anniversary, demonstrating its commitment to education and the formation of values. Therefore, Ana Regina was awarded the honorary award of this institution.

A representative of the Positive Education System, Mr Jonatas, presented a plaque to the Heart of Mary School, thanking them for their 25-year partnership.

After the ceremony, the Heart of Mary military band performed for the guests in front of the St. Basil the Great event center.
