Holy Synod of the UOC-MP appoints four new bishops
On March 18, 2020, a meeting of the Holy Synod was held under the chairmanship of Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and all Ukraine at the residence of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
A number of personnel decisions were made during the meeting.
The Synod dismissed Archpriest Vladislav Dikhanov, Chair of the Synodal Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church for Social and Humanitarian Issues, and appointed Archpriest Serhiy Ekshiyan, a clergyman of the Kyiv diocese, to this office.
Archimandrite Seraphim (Rakovsky) was dismissed from the post of rector of the Odessa Theological Seminary. Archpriest Dmytro Yakovenko was appointed the new rector.
- Archimandrite Kyryl (Bilan), a clergyman of the Diocese of Kyiv, was elected as Bishop of Byshevsky and vicar of the Kyiv Metropolitan Area.
- a clergyman of the Diocese of Kyiv, Archimandrite Lavr (Berezovsky), was elected as Bishop of Irpin, Vicar of the Kyiv Metropolis.
- Archimandrite Mark (Andriuka), a clergyman of the Diocese of Kyiv, was elected as Bishop of Borodyansk and Vicar of the Kyiv Metropolitan Area.
- Archimandrite Afanasiy (Herman), a clergyman of the DIocese of Volyn, was elected as Bishop of Kamen-Kashirsky and vicar of the Diocese of Volyn.
