I believe prayer be heard and peace reigns in Ukraine, - His Beatitude Sviatoslav
His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Head of the UGCC said in his interview to the Catholic News Agency (KAI), in response to questions about the prayerful unity of Ukraine and the world these days.
After Second World War Austria, similarly to Germany was divided into so-called occupation zones. Part of Austria was occupied by Soviet troops, including Vienna. The Austrians knew it very well, - said the Head of the UGCC, - when the Soviets entered somewhere, they forgot to return home”.
As it is widely known, in 1947, a Franciscan father Peter Pavlichek founded the Rosary Brotherhood, where people were praying for world peace and liberation of Austria. He was travelling around eparchies and among communities, carrying the Statue of Our Lady of Fatima with him and urging people to consolidate in prayer. After eight years of a continuous prayer, Austria became independent. People believe that common prayer has made this possible. We see the power of the rosary. That is why we also invite Poles to unite in praying rosary for peace in Ukraine. If someone cannot say the whole prayer, we ask you to at least pray "Our Father" and "Virgin Mary". I believe that prayer will be heard and peace reigns in Ukraine”, said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
