In Brussels, the Secretaries of the EU Bishops discussed the role of the Church in the political space of Europe
This was reported by Vatican News.
According to Bishop Mariano Crociata, chairman of the Commission of the Bishops' Conferences of the European Union (COMECE), “the Church must participate in the discussion of issues that shape the future of Europe.”
Klaus Welle, a well-known German politician and former Secretary General of the European Parliament, who attended the meeting, stated that “religious and political communities should seek common answers.”
The discussions focused on various topics, including the ethical challenges posed by the digital environment, personal data protection, the war in Ukraine, security, migration, and the persecution of Christians.
The annual meeting of the EU Bishops' Secretaries serves as a platform for exchanging experiences and ideas, fostering new collaboration among churches, and establishing a united Church position in response to the key challenges facing modern Europe.
