In Uzhgorod Theological Academy and students of the UOC (MP) and the UOC-KP will study together
A meeting with seminarians and faculty of Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy (VOTA) of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Kyiv Patriarchate was held on October 6 in Augustin Voloshin Carpathian University and Saints Cyril and Methodius Uzhgorod Ukrainian Theological Academy. It was agreed that theology students of Volyn will study at the Carpathian University within the program of two certificates, reports "Religion in Ukraine" with reference to the UOC-KP website.
Rector of the University and Academy Professor Archimandrite Victor (Bed) gave account of the status and structure of the university, the possibilities for the students studying under the program of two diplomas. It was also noted that the university administrations of Uzhgorod and Volyn schools have appropriate agreements on the exchange of students and their simultaneous training in VOTA along with obtaining higher education at Augustin Voloshin Carpathian University and Saints Cyril and Methodius Uzhgorod Theological Academy with state-recognized degrees. Therefore, those willing to obtain a secular education in the fields of theology (theology), philosophy, law, psychology or economics may apply to study in Augustin Voloshin Carpathian University and Saints Cyril and Methodius Uzhgorod Ukrainian Theological Academy without leaving training at their native institution Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy.
Given that today Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy does not issue its state-recognized diplomas to graduates and does not train specialists in the fields of philosophy, law, psychology and economics, so, the cooperation with Augustin Voloshin Carpathian University and Saints Cyril and Methodius Uzhgorod Ukrainian Theological Academy is attractive and interesting for Volyn theology students. During a meeting with the leadership of Augustin Voloshin Carpathian University and Saints Cyril and Methodius Uzhgorod Ukrainian Theological Academy, the academicians of VOTA took interest in details of the learning environment, social projects operating in Uzhgorod University and Academy, the benefits provided to children from low-income families, accommodation, internship opportunities abroad.
Representatives of Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy, including Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs priest Vasyl Lozinski, Secretary of the Academic Council, Archpriest Igor Skyba, spoke in turn about their institution and confirmed their willingness to further cooperation and exchange of students, as well as the willingness to continue intercollegiate cooperation in the field of Ukrainian theological education. This is beneficial for everyone, both teachers and students. In addition, the students and faculty believe that cooperation in the field of Ukrainian higher education and science between Augustin Voloshin Carpathian University and Saints Cyril and Methodius Uzhgorod Ukrainian Theological Academy is an effective step towards overcoming the division of Orthodoxy in Ukraine.
It should be noted that in from the very establishment of this institution, Augustin Voloshin Carpathian University and Uzhgorod Ukrainian Divinity Academy of Saints Cyril and Methodius trained the faithful of the UOC (MP) and other Orthodox canonical ecclesial jurisdictions.
