21.05.2001, 10:13
On Saturday, May 19, the Governing Office of the Jehovah’s Witnesses organization in Ukraine opened a massive administrative center in Briukhovychi, a leafy suburb of western Ukrainian Lviv. Representatives from over 1100 assemblies in Ukraine and about 250 delegates from 35 countries traveled to attend the ceremony.

The new administrative center is composed of administrative and office buildings, workshops, laundry rooms, kitchens and dining rooms, a storage room for their publications, from which the literature is dispersed to all parts of Ukraine, and also two residential buildings with 104 rooms. Various kinds of work, including translations, are carried out in the Governing Office by 148 workers of different ethnic backgrounds: Ukrainians, Russians, Romanians, Hungarians, Germans, Poles, Italians, Catalans, English, Armenians and Americans. They come from Ukraine, Germany, Spain, the USA, Poland, Canada and England.

According to the Public Relations Office of the Jehovah’s Witnesses in Ukraine, 20,000 are expected to attend a celebration to be held in Lviv’s «Stadium Ukraine» on Sunday morning, May 20. A simultaneous celebration is planned in Kyiv. There are now over 115,00 Jehovah’s Witnesses preachers who pass out their free literature in Ukraine. After visiting the new Governing Office complex, a representative from the civil authorities, not affiliated with the Jehovah’s Witnesses, commented: «Previously when I heard the word ‘paradise,’ I couldn’t imagine what this could mean. But after today’s tour on the grounds of your center, I know exactly what ‘paradise on earth’ means. I’ve seen it with my own eyes.» Information supplied by the Governing Office of the Jehovah’s Witness religious organization in Ukraine.
