Interreligious Symposium on migration to be held in Lviv
On Thursday, December 8, 2016, Lviv will host the Interreligious Symposium “Migration through the prism of interfaith dialogue: a view of Judaism, Christianity and Islam.” The event will be held under the auspices of the religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine “Ummah” and the Centre for interfaith and inter-religious dialogue “Libertas.”
The purpose of the event to present the idea of the phenomenon of migration through the prism of three major Abrahamic religions. As the migration crisis in the world aggravated and with number of IDPs in Ukraine increases (over one million), society is looking for answers to the challenges of this phenomenon. Very often, migrants and IDPs are seen as a threat (economic, cultural or religious one), while migrants / immigrants are part of the Ukrainian people with great potential.
It is the potential and the experience of immigrants and IDPs that the Interreligious Symposium in Lviv titled “Migration through the prism of interfaith dialogue: a view of Judaism, Christianity and Islam will discuss.”
The symposium is a continuation of last year's event “The Future of Christian-Muslim relations in Europe in the context of contemporary migration” (December 3, 2015, Kyiv), initiated by the Religious Administration of Muslims “Ummah,” the Centre for interfaith and inter-religious dialogue “Libertas” and the Ukrainian Association of Theologians.
