Jubilee Year: His Beatitude Sviatoslav invites faithful to the Vatican for pilgrimage - фото 1
On June 28, 2025, a significant event will occur in the Vatican: a pilgrimage organized by the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church to the tomb of the Holy Apostle Peter. This pilgrimage will take place as part of the Jubilee Year of Hope 2025, announced by Pope Francis. It promises to be a historic moment for our entire Church.

This was reported by the UGCC Department for Information.

On Saturday, June 28, at 1:00 PM Roman time, a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in the Ukrainian-Byzantine rite will be held at St. Peter's Basilica. This event will be attended by all the bishops of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) from around the world, led by His Beatitude Sviatoslav. Following the Liturgy, they will commence a meeting of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC in Rome.

This pilgrimage represents an opportunity to demonstrate the unity of our Church, which today is a global community. As His Beatitude Sviatoslav noted in the Open Church program, numerous pilgrims from Canada, the United States, Brazil, Argentina, Australia, and Western Europe are already preparing to travel to Rome. Due to the challenges posed by the martial law in Ukraine, not everyone will be able to attend in person. However, all the faithful can join in prayer through a live broadcast on Zhyve TV.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav has also personally invited Pope Leo XIV to greet the UGCC pilgrims on the day of the pilgrimage. The Pope has received an official written invitation, and our Church is eagerly anticipating his presence.

"I invite all our faithful who have the opportunity to participate in this pilgrimage to prepare spiritually through confession, prayer, and fasting. A special feature of this pilgrimage will be the chance to pass through the open Holy Doors in St. Peter's Basilica and receive full absolution," said His Beatitude Sviatoslav. "Even the Vatican should witness our unity and resolve. We are the largest Eastern Catholic Church, a global Church that unites millions of Ukrainians around the world. I encourage all our faithful to join us."
