Lavrov wants Trump to “repeal” the law on the Ukrainian language and the ban on the ROC
This was reported on Sunday, September 29, 2024, by the BBC Russian, Espreso reports.
According to Lavrov, who is currently attending the UN General Assembly session in New York, Russia is ready to “resolve the problem by eliminating the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis” - Ukraine's refusal to join NATO, as well as the repeal of the law on the Ukrainian language as the state language and the law banning the Moscow Patriarchate, which, according to the Russian Foreign Minister, “oppress the Russian-speaking population.”
Lavrov made this statement after Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and assured him of his support if he wins the US election.
Lavrov did not specify exactly how Trump, if elected president of the United States, should “repeal” Ukrainian laws and who, as he put it, should “go out and vote.”
“If Mr. Trump manages to repeal said laws, it will be a step forward. It's a simple matter of going out and voting,” Lavrov said.
