On February 4, a delegation of Ukrainian Christians met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio during Ukrainian Week in Washington.

This was reported by News IO.

The participants described the talks held at the State Department as both diplomatically and religiously significant.

During the meeting, the parties discussed various topics, including faith, contemporary challenges, the situation in Ukraine, and the war initiated by the Russian Federation. They paid particular attention to compliance with international law and to the protection of the Ukrainian people from aggression.

Bishop Vitalii Kryvytskyi of the Kyiv-Zhytomyr Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church, who took part in the discussions, stated, “We talked about faith, the challenges of our time, Ukraine, and the senseless war unleashed by the Russian Federation against our people and international law.”

As a token of appreciation, Bishop Kryvytskyi presented Marco Rubio with a symbolic gift — a box of chocolates made in Dnipro, despite the ongoing enemy shelling. The bishop explained that this gift represents the resilience and courage of Ukrainians in the extremely challenging conditions of war.
