Metropolitan Epifaniy met with Cardinal Kurt Koch
This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv Metropolia of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (OCU).
The meeting was also attended by Archbishop Yevstratiy, deputy head of the Department for External Church Relations.
The Metropolitan thanked His Eminence Kurt Koch for his attention to the local Church of Ukraine and spoke in more detail about the general situation in the religious life of our state, answering a number of questions.
"We are closely following the events. During our meetings, Patriarch Bartholomew and Metropolitan Emmanuel, who, as I know, has also done much for the Ukrainian Church, told us about them. Also, the other day we had a visit from the Patriarch of Alexandria. We are pleased with the visit that is taking place now, and we hope that with God's help, the disputes that exist between Orthodox Christians in Ukraine will end," Cardinal Koch said.
Metropolitan Epifaniy testified to the openness of the OCU, as one of the local churches, to participate in the orthodox-Catholic dialogue.
"We have good relations with the Greek Catholic and Roman Catholic churches in Ukraine, and over the past year, we have had warm meetings and cooperation with representatives of Catholic episcopal conferences in Poland, Germany, and France. Therefore, we want to deepen contacts with the Apostolic capital as well," the Primate stressed.
According to the press service of the OCU, the meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, and its participants agreed to continue contact.
