Metropolitan Onufriy refuses to to meet the priests requesting breakaway from the Russian Orthodox Church
Telegram channel "Veselyy pip" (Cheerful Priest) reported this, as cited by Glavkom.
"However, the priests who arrived at Feofania were able to have a 1.5-hour conversation with Bishop Mark, who is one of the closest officials to Metropolitan Onufriy. Mark promised to convey the main messages to Metropolitan Onufriy and to organize a meeting with the signatories and the Kyiv Metropolitan of the UOC in the nearest future," the report said.
It should be noted that priests of the UOC-MP addressed Metropolitan Onufriy with an urgent appeal to immediately and definitively break ties with the ROC after the hostile missile attack on the Transfiguration Cathedral in Odesa. The relevant plea letter was published on July 23. As of the morning of July 25, nearly 300 signatures of priests from the Moscow Church have been collected.
They call the destruction of the Odesa Cathedral barbaric. The clergy is requesting the convocation of the Council of the UOC-MP, where a final break with the ROC should occur due to the genocide of Ukrainians by Russian occupiers.
Representatives of the Moscow Patriarchate are convinced that this is the only way for the UOC-MP to be free from Russian influence and to defend the interests of the Ukrainian people.
It should be noted that the leadership of the UOC-MP has started repressing priests who urged Onufriy to break ties with the ROC.
