Metropolitan Volodymyr Met with President of the Synod of the German Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ukraine
KYIV – On June 30, 2010, the primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Volodymyr, met with the president of the synod of the German Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ukraine the Rev. Andrew Hamburg.
According to the website of the UOC-MP, during the meeting bilateral relations were discussed. The Rev. Andrew Hamburg is the vice head of the group "Reconciliation in Europe: The Churches' Task in Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, and Germany," which searches for ways for Christian churches to solve topical social issues in eastern and central Europe. Currently the group is preparing for an international conference on immigration problems in modern Europe.
Taking part in the work of the reconciliation group is the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Hamburg told Metropolitan Volodymyr of the group's initiatives and asked for his prayers for their successful realization. Metropolitan Volodymyr thanked the pastor for his visit and wished God's help in carrying out of important social projects.
Taking part in the meeting also were official representative of the UOC-MP professor of the Kyiv Theological Academy Volodymyr Bureha and secretary for the Department for External Church Relations of the UOC archpriest Mykolai Danylevych.
