Metropolitan Volodymyr Presided over the 70th Birthday Celebrations of Metropolitan Sofronii of Kaniv and Cherkasy

On April 18, 2010, the primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) presided over the Divine Liturgy at St. Michael's Cathedral of Cherkasy.

CHERKASY On April 18, 2010, the primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) presided over the Divine Liturgy at St. Michael's Cathedral of Cherkasy. Representatives of the regional authorities, led by governor Serhii Tulub, also took part in the Liturgy.  

According to the press service of the UOC-MP, at the end of the Liturgy the archpastor greeted the metropolitan on his 70th birthday. In his word the hierarch wished Metropolitan Sofronii spiritual and bodily strength and God's assistance in his tenure of the diocese he heads.  Marking the merits of Bishop Sofronii, the primate bestowed on him the order of the Holy Hierarch Theodosius of Chernihiv and presented him with an icon of the Holy Hierarch Nicholas the Wonderworker.  

Thereafter Archbishop Stephan of Pinsk and Luninets greeted the metropolitan on behalf of Metropolitan Filaret of Minsk and Slutsk and bestowed on him the order of the Holy Hierarch Cyril of Turov, 2nd degree.
