Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine condemned the act of vandalism, committed on the night of August 17-18, 2018 in Bila Tserkva. A group of intruders knocked down a concrete fence at the construction site of the Nativity Church, the first church of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in the city. An official comment by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on this issue was published on the Ministry's official site.

“Condemning these unlawful actions that compromise the international authority of our State, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry expresses its protest and strongly opposes similar manifestations of incitement to inter-religious hatred. Obviously, the purpose of this unlawful action is to sow fear and uncertainty not only among the Greek Catholics, but also among the faithful of other denominations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine considers this insidious attack to be an attack on the freedom of conscience and religion of all citizens.

We are convinced that Ukrainian law enforcement agencies will give proper assessment to this disgraceful act and take all necessary measures to bring the organizers and perpetrators of the crime to responsibility,” the Foreign Ministry claims.
