The relevant statement was published on the website of the Estonian Orthodox Church, reports Glavkom.
The Estonian Orthodox Church, which is part of the Russian Orthodox Church, has published a response from its primate, Metropolitan Yevgeny (Reshetnikov), at the request of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, condemning Patriarch Kirill's statements about the war in Ukraine. The Minister of Internal Affairs promised to make a proposal to deprive the clergymen of his residence permit if he does not condemn the war.
The text of the response states that the Estonian Orthodox Church opposes the war based on Orthodox teaching. Metropolitan Yevgeny has said that he condemns the war and does not share the stance of the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Kirill, that Russians who die at the front "will be forgiven all their sins."
