In response to Russia's massive attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, a nationwide fundraiser was held in Polish churches on February 15, 2026, to assist those affected.

The Head of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland, Archbishop Tadeusz Wojda, has appealed for donations, which are being collected through Caritas Polska, as reported by Polskie Radio.

Father Waldemar Pawelec, the rector of the Pallottine community in Kyiv, told Polskie Radio that Kyiv is effectively cut off from heating, and that restoring infrastructure may take months or even years. He stated, “Kyiv is in a dire situation as overwhelming hatred and anger have been aimed at the capital, making life unbearable for its residents. We have received a substantial number of generators, which are being used by parishes, monasteries, and schools. Additionally, powerful generators have been delivered to aid centers and hospitals. However, our most pressing need right now is fuel to operate these generators. While fuel can be purchased, it requires financial resources. We urgently need money and materials to continue our efforts.”

Father Pawelec noted that the first-aid shipments from Poland, in response to His Beatitude Sviatoslav's call for help, have already arrived and are invaluable during these winter months. He remarked, “Our parish has received a fairly powerful generator that will help us get through the most challenging moments. We know that winter is not yet over, and the temperatures are expected to drop well below minus 10 degrees in the coming days. Each parish in Kyiv has set up what we call a ‘warming center’ where people can come to get a bowl of soup, hot tea or coffee, food, and a place to warm up. They can also charge their phones, socialize, or even have their blood pressure checked.”
