The new hierarch of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, who is Greek by origin and had been working for many years in the fold of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Church of Greece, asked for a blessing to his pastoral ministry, after his ordination by the Primate and the Synaxis of the hierarchs of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
"Bishop Epiphanius of Olvia conveyed his sincere gratitude and deep love and respect for the Mother Church on behalf of His Beatitude, the Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kyiv and All Ukraine. His Holiness, the Ecumenical Patriarch wished the new bishop of Olvia a good and fruitful ministry for the benefit of the Ukrainian people and Orthodox Greeks living in Ukraine,” the statement reads.
