The Holy Synod of the OCU, which took place in Kyiv today, March 28, supported the position of Metropolitan Epifaniy, set forth in his Address to the brethren of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and the public of March 18, 2023.

This is reported by the OCU website.

The Synod called on the monks of the Lavra to unite in the bosom of the local Ukrainian Orthodox Church on the canonical principles determined by the decisions of the Unification Council on December 15, 2018, and the patriarchal and Synodal Tomos on autocephaly of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, awarded on January 6, 2019.

Participants of the Synod of the OCU note that they support the decision of the state to terminate the treaty under which the structures of the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine used part of the complex of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, while at the same time, they consider it necessary to preserve monastic life and the continuity of divine services in the Lavra.

The Holy Synod, therefore, asks the government to provide them with premises on the territory of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra complex for the organization of monastic life, liturgical and other religious activities.
