On the Directive of Metropolitan Volodymyr an Office of Dean for Monasteries of Kyiv Diocese of UOC-MP Established

KYIV - On the directive of the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP), Metropolitan Volodymyr, a new office of Dean for Monasteries of the Kyiv Diocese of the UOC-MP has been established and archimandrite Feodosii (Snihiriov) was appointed to the position. The new dean hopes to establish constructive cooperation with the local authorities, he said in an interview to glasnarodu.com. The archimandrite also noted that he plans to help the superiors of the monasteries with consultations especially in property and land matters, reports UNIAN.

Directive

In view of the growth of the number of men's and women's monasteries in the Diocese of Kyiv and to improve the mechanism of diocesan ruling of the monasteries of Kyiv and the Kyiv region, and on the grounds of Article VII.(Г) of the Statute of Governance of the UOC, pursuant to Our Order of May 25, 2010, the office of Dean for Monasteries of the Kyiv Diocese is established.  


The duties of the dean will include:

- executing the orders and instructions of the diocesan authorities throughout the monasteries;
- ensuring the timely receipt by the diocese of payments from monasteries;
- preliminary investigating church violations in the monasteries on the instruction of the diocesan bishop;
- fulfilling other duties assigned by the diocesan bishop.

On the blessing of the diocesan bishop, the dean may gather the abbots and abbesses of the monasteries for a council to discuss urgent necessities of monastic life in the diocese.

The dean submits a report on the state of the monasteries of the Kyiv Diocese to the diocesan bishop on a regular basis.  

The Dean for Monasteries of the Kyiv Diocese may have chancery and archive at his disposal, whose employees are assigned by the dean.
