Open Orthodox University discusses the religious community of the future
On May 5, at the Metropolitan house of the National Reserve “Sophia,” the Open Orthodox University held a round table on “The religious community of the future.”
The purpose of this interdenominational meeting was to formulate a vision for the Ukrainian religious communities of the future.
In particular, during the roundtable the participants sought answers to the question:
- What should be the relationship between religions and believers of various denominations in the future?
- What forms of unity are possible and relevant in the near future?
The roundtable was attended by Said Ismagilov, Mufti of the Religious Administration of Muslims of Ukraine “Ummah”; Oleksandr Dukhovnyy, chief rabbi of the Religious Association for Progressive Judaism Ukraine; Petro Zhuk, Archpriest of the UGCC, the seminary rector; Roman Melnychenko, a priest of the UOC-KP and psychologist; Bogdan Ohulchanskyy, priest of the UOC, academic secretary of the Open Orthodox University; Roman Ostrovskyy, a priest of the UGCC and biblical expert; Constantine Sigov, director of “Spirit and Letter”; Mykhailo Cherenkov, Protestant theologian, professor at the Ukrainian Catholic University; Ludmyla Fylypovych, Ph.D., Professor, Department of Religious Studies, Skovoroda Philosophy Institute of the NAS of Ukraine; Anabella Morina, social activist, founder of the “Public Movement Pochayna”; Vyacheslav Gorshkov, senior methodologist of the Christian educational organization “Open Bible,” Vitaly Zernovyy, Adviser to the Minister of Culture.
The roundtable of the Open Orthodox University was moderated by its rector Archpriest George Kovalenko.
During the round table the video footage was recorded for the next episode of the TV series “Secret code of faith” (1 + 1 TV), which will focus on the issue of multi confessionality of Ukraine. This was reported by “Orthodoxy in Ukraine.”
