Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church loses not only spiritual support, but also big money. The cause of such losses was the establishment of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. Religious scholar Vita Titarenko told UNIAN.
She has explained that Kirill loses revenue with each transfer of the Russian Orthodox Church’s parish, which changes affiliation to the OCU.
Titarenko has added that the establishment of the OCU on the legitimate church principles in one way or another urges people to get away from Moscow's influence, change their religious affiliation and move to the independent Ukrainian church.
“…Which has its own Metropolitan, where they do not pray for aggression, where they do not bless weapons,” she said.
"Why do you think the Russian Orthodox Church constantly distributes information that now the newly formed Ukrainian church will allegedly be paying its money to Istanbul? It seems this is the only thing they are interested in,” the religious scholar summarized.
