Patriarch Kirill Prays for Right Choice of Ukrainian people at Election
MOSCOW — According to a report of Ukrayinska Pravda with reference to Interfax, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow prays for the right choice of the Ukrainian nation and wished success to the Ukrainian people at the elections and promised to pray so that there would never be any insuperable conflicts. RISU’s Ukrainian-language web site posted this story on February 1, 2010.
"I wish success to Ukrainian people. May God grant that the right choice is made. And further developments will not provoke any insuperable conflicts. It seems that Ukraine has exhausted the time and patience of its citizens. There should be no more conflict and opposition," Patriarch Kirill said in his interview to the Voskresnoie Vremia program broadcast on Sunday evening by channel “1.”
"I pray for the right choice so that the political earthquake in Ukraine stops as soon as possible," the patriarch said.
The second tour of the presidential elections in Ukraine is set for February 7. The Party of Regions leader Viktor Yanukovych and Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko will run for presidency.
