Patriarch of UGCC extends condolences after terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka

On behalf of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Patriarch Sviatoslav (Shevchuk) extended his condolences after terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka. The first hierarch wrote it in his letter to Cardinal Malcom Remix, Archbishop of Colombo, according to the Department of Information of the UGCC.

“From the full complement of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, I would like to express our sympathy and assurances in prayers in relation to the terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka, which claimed the lives of more than 200 innocent people and left more people injured. Such a violent and brutal assault committed on Easter that targeted the Christian communities celebrating their Easter services shows that the evil is a real threat to peace and security throughout the world,” the first hierarch said.

“Being deeply upset by this meaningless act of violence, I extend my condolences to the relatives and families of the dead. Our whole Church prays for the eternal repose of our innocent murdered brothers and sisters. We are united in prayers with the families of the victims as a result of this tragedy,” said the head of the UGCC.
