Law enforcement officials instituted a criminal case regarding the discovery of damages and destruction to one of the buildings in Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

According to Correspondent, this was reported by the press service of the capital's police on Facebook on Thursday, April 13.

"Representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy appealed to the police regarding the discovery of damages and destruction to one of the buildings in Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which is in a state of emergency and unsuitable for use," the statement reads.

Law enforcement officials are investigating all details and collecting evidence of illegal actions, namely deliberate illegal destruction, damage or destruction of objects of cultural heritage or their parts.

The sanction of the article provides for a fine of two to five thousand non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens or imprisonment for up to three years or imprisonment for the same term with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years or without it.

As reported, the Ministry of Culture Commission began working in Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra the day before and recorded violations. Representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate left piles of garbage and vandalized buildings behind them.

As a result of the work in Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the Ministry of Culture Commission sealed one of the shrines.
