Polish Episcopal Conference announces nationwide collection to support Ukraine
In light of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, Archbishop Tadeusz Wojda SAC, Head of the Polish Episcopal Conference, has called on bishops to organize a fundraiser to support Ukraine on Sunday, February 15, 2026. During a general audience on Wednesday, the Pope expressed his gratitude to the Church in Poland for its support and encouraged continued assistance for the Ukrainian people, as reported by Vatican Radio.
According to a statement from the Polish Episcopal Conference, the collection will take place after each Sunday Mass. The funds raised will be sent to aid the victims through Caritas Poland. The statement also indicates that some dioceses have already scheduled collections on different dates to assist Ukraine.
In urging donations to help Ukrainians suffering from the harsh winter conditions brought about by the war, the president of the Polish Episcopal Conference highlighted the words of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, who, during a general audience on Wednesday, February 4, stated: “I express my gratitude for the initiatives of solidarity being carried out in Catholic dioceses in Poland and other countries, which are making efforts to help the population endure the severe frosts at this time.”
