Pope to be handed a letter from Ukrainian youth on World Youth Day
On July 24, the young people who took part in the National Festival of the Unified Youth Space “Wind of Hope”along withenthusiasts, wrote a letter to Pope Francis during a flash-mob “TellthePope about Ukraine” held in the center of Lviv.
The festival will end on Sunday, June 26. As reported by representatives of the UGCC Youth Commission, young people from Lviv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia,Khmelnytsky, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Odesa, Kharkiv regions and even from Poland and Italy will participate in the event.
"We are not just writing to the Pope about war. In Ukraine there are many good, kind and pure people who do a lot of useful things. So we have something to tell to the Pope,” RostyslavPendyuk, head of the UGCC Commission on Youthtold in his commentary to the Information Department of the UGCC.
The addressee will be handed over the letter at the World Youth Day in Krakow (Poland) 2016. “I think this letter for the Pope is important. We are not sure what the Bishop of Rome will be able to read it in Ukrainian, but he will definitely review it. We know that the Pope is not indifferent to other people. Therefore, I am convinced that he will try to learn more about what he is told,” the priest assured.
In a letter to Pope the young people mainlyasked for prayers of the Holy Father for peace in Ukrainian State and his support. There was even a “We need your support. We are a young country, which only gets to its feet,” the Information Department of the UGCC reports.
