Representatives of UNESCO, Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and National Reserve to jointly store Pechersk shrines
The UNESCO delegation arrived in Kyiv for a working visit and met with Metropolitan Pavlo, the governor of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. The Ukrainian side was also represented by director of the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Reserve Lubomir Mykhailyna, the website of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra reports.
The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is on the list of World Heritage Site and is one of the most revered shrines of Christendom.
The meeting was devoted to discussing the joint efforts of the current monastery that occupies the Lower Lavra, with the Kyiv-Pechersk reserve, which is located in the Upper Lavra Caves to preserve ancient relics and historical landmarks.
By joint effort, the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and Lavra Reserve carried out the reconstruction of churches of the upper monastery complex and cooperate in various cultural and administrative areas. In conclusion, the governor of the monastery and guests exchanged gifts.
