Ruling Bishop of Kremenchuk Diocese of Ukrainian Orthodox Church passed away in the Lord

Ruling Bishop of Kremenchuk Diocese of Ukrainian Orthodox Church passed away in the Lord - фото 1
On February 18 at the age of 43 His Grace Tikhon, Bishop of Kremenchuk and Lubny passed away in the Lord. The last rites for Bishop Tikhon took place on February 20, at the Holy Dormition Cathedral of Kremenchuk after the Divine Liturgy.

Bishop Tikhon of Kremenchuk and Lubny (secular mane Zhyliakov Mykola Victorovych) was born on July 9, 1968, in Kommunarsk of the Voroshylovohrad region (now Alchevsk of the Luhansk region) in a family of workers.

In 1985 he graduated from secondary school №9 of Kommunarsk.

In 1990 he graduated from Kommunarsk Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (now Donbass State Technical University.

In 1990-1992 he took a postgraduate course at the Kommunarsk Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, and at the Military department of Kommunarsk Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, where in 1989 he obtained a rank of lieutenant of the Soviet Army.

From June 1992 he bore obedience of the sacristan at the Church of St Nicholas in Alchevsk. In 1992 he was ordained deacon by bishop Ioannikiy (now Metropolitan of Luhansk and Alchevsk).

On May 13 1993 he was tonsured a monk with the name Tikhon in honor of the Holy Hierarch Tikhon, Patriarch of Moscow (nameday October 9).

On May 22 1993 ordained to the holy priest hood.

In 1998 he graduated from the Kyiv Theological Seminary. He studied at the Ukrainian Uzhgorod Theological Academy.

He performed his ministry of priest at the Churches of St Nicholas and of the Holy Protection Veil in Alchevsk.

In 2006 he was appointed salaried priest at the church of the Icon of the Mother of God of Pochayiv in Rubezhne village.

On January 11, 2009, he was elevated to the rank of archimandrite.

By the decision of the Holy Synod of the UOC of November 24, 2009, (Journal 74) he was appointed Bishop of Kremenchuk and Lyubny.

On November 28, 2009, the rite of nomination was performed and on November 29, 2009, he was consecrated bishop at the Refectory Church of the Holy Dormition Kyiv Caves Monastery.
