Russian priest gives scammers RUR 17 million after being intimidated by the mentions of Ukraine
According to TSN, this was reported by the Russian telegram channel "Caution, Moscow".
70-year-old archpriest Anatoly Nagorny had saved a tidy sum of money in the bank. The priest was reportedly contacted by "bank employees" who claimed that hackers from Ukraine had broken into his account and were planning to take out a loan secured by the archpriest's Moscow apartment. The scammers allegedly advised Nagorny to withdraw his money from the account and transfer it to a secure bank.
Nagorny did so, giving unknown individuals 17 million rubles before turning to the police. The Moscow "priest" claimed that he gave the money to the fraudsters because he trusted their words.
