SBU detains member of Russian Writers’ Union for inciting religious hatred
Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine in Cherkasy curtailed the dissemination of materials fueling religious hatred.
This is reported by the ZIK with reference to the press center of the agency.
“Security service operatives have found out that a resident of Cherkasy, a native of the Russian Federation, a member of the Writers' Union of Russia, was producing at the request of a Russian curator materials that condemned and negatively assessed the creation of the Local Church of Ukraine and the decision on the Tomos. He distributed these materials on the Russian websites,” goes the message.
It is noted that during an authorized search at the place of residence of the attacker, law enforcement officers discovered computer equipment, flash drives and a laptop containing hatred-inciting materials. The seized materials have been submitted for examination.
Within the framework of the criminal proceedings instituted under Part 1 Article 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine the investigative actions continue. The issue of serving suspicion notice to the perpetuator is currently being solved.
The measures aimed at disclosure and curtailing of illegal activities were implemented jointly with the national police under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office.
