Session of Synod of Bishops of UGCC Held in Lviv
The 58th session of the Synod of Bishops of Kyiv-Halych Supreme Archbishopric of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church ended in Lviv. It was held in the retreat center of the Lviv Archeparchy of UGCC in Briukhovychi-Lviv on 19-20 November with the participation of all the bishops of Kyiv-Halych Supreme Archbishopric of UGCC and the Apostolic Visitator for Greek-Catholics of Belarus, Archimandrite Serhii (Haiek).
According to the Information Department of UGCC Patriarch Sviatoslav told the audience about the participation of UGCC in the Pontifical Synod and Bishop Bohdan (Dziurakh) told the audience about the preparation for the proclamation of Blessed Martyr Volodymyr Pryima Patron of laymen of UGCC. The members of the Synod were also informed about legal acts of the Supreme Council, Cabinet of Ministers and Presidential Administration of Ukraine regarding religious life.
Further to the main theme of the previous session of the Bishops of Kyiv-Halych Supreme Archbishopric, the Life of Priest in the Parish, the participants heard an interim report of the work team on elaborating the pastoral instruction “Good shepherd” compiled by the head of the team, Fr, Dr. Volodymyr Zhdan.
A considerable part f the Synod sessions dealt with elaboration of such Synod documents as the document regarding the visitation of the parish by the bishop presented by Bishop Taras (Senkiv), “Statutes of the Parish” presented by Bishop Dmytro (Hryhorak), “Norms of Serving the Divine Liturgy” and “Pastoral Catechetical Guide of the Kyiv-Halych Supreme Archbishopric of UGCC.”
