Special working group of the Kyiv City State Administration to decide fate of Tithe Church
A special working group will be established as part of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) to prepare a program and ideology for the development of the territory surrounding the remains of the Tithe Church, UNIAN reports.
The decision to establish a working group was made as a result of the working councils of experts, after the best concepts for developing the Tithe Church territory were chosen.
The city administration stresses that the problem of preserving authentic remains of the church and creating a museum must be solved as delicately as possible, since even archaeological research should be limited. Since research will be conducted for five years, it is necessary to renew the glass cover to protect the foundations from the elements. In addition, archaeological excavations should not start before a plan is made to display and preserve the remains. The archaeological research is part of the project for the complex.
From the urban planning point of view, to renew the church to the scale it once was is not possible for it would completely block Volodmyrska Street. In the context of creating a museum, it is planned to reconstruct the image of the church, but not its physical state, underscores the KCSA. In addition, while drafting the plan for creating the museum, the entire territory must be considered.
