"The pursuit of freedom combined efforts of representatives of many faiths: Orthodox, Muslims, Catholics and Protestants. There is no doubt a common victory of all patriots, that Lord gave us," stresses Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of Ukraine in their address on 20th anniversary of Ukraine's independence.

"We celebrate, remember and pray for all those who won independence, all who died and suffered for our future. Freedom, equality before the law and the rule of law must be defended. In the Holy Quran, Almighty God tells us: 'Allah does not change the status of people until they themselves change what is in their souls' (Quran, 13:11). Celebrating the glorious anniversary is a great opportunity to urge all citizens to peace, mutual respect and tolerance. Strong and powerful is a state based on harmony in society. We urge everyone to respect the rights of their compatriots, including religious and spiritual rights. Muslims of Ukraine are an integral part of the Ukrainian society. We love and appreciate our country, we are proud by the level of religious freedom," reads the statement.

“On the occasion of independence, we wish our country forever freedom, strength, power, prosperity and permanence of democratic rights and freedoms. We ask Almighty God to bless our land and our people!" reads the address.
