The blast wave caused the destruction of the cornice on the main apse of the national monument.

This was reported by Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications Mykola Tochytskyi on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

"Last night, the enemy struck again at the very heart of our identity. The St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv, a shrine that has survived for centuries, symbolizes the birth of our nation. The blast wave caused significant damage to the cornice on the main apse of this monument of national importance. This 11th-century temple represents the soul of all of Ukraine," Tochitskyi wrote.

“The war waged by Russia is not only an attack on our cities; it is an assault on our culture, our memory, and our future,” the minister added.

According to a report by Ukrinform, following a massive Russian attack in Kyiv overnight, two victims are currently receiving treatment in hospitals, while four others have received outpatient care.
