Supreme Council Postpones Consideration of Bill on Granting Repressed Status to Ukrainian Greeek Catholic Church
It was decided at today’s Supreme Council session to postpone the consideration of the bill granting repressed status to the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC).
The bill was initiated by deputies, V. Derevlianyi and D. Shlemko. It was decided at today’s session to postpone the consideration of this question, the website of the Supreme Council of Ukraine reported.
The explanatory note attached to the draft Resolution of the Supreme Council “On Granting the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church the Status of a Repressed Church” stresses that under the Communist regime, the UGCC experienced persecutions.
The document states that the draft Resolution of the Supreme Council “On Granting the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church the Status of a Repressed Church” has been developed to restore historic justice with respect to the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and to recognize its repressed status with subsequent granting of appropriate rights.
