The bishops of the UGCC have prayed for the peace of the fallen Kruty Heroes
On January 29, on the day of commemoration of the Heroes of Kruty, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, together with the bishops of the UGCC in the Patriarchal House in Lviv, celebrated a memorial service. The UGCC Department for Information report.
A commemorative prayer was held in the framework of the eighty-fourth Session of the Synod of Bishops of the Kyiv-Halych Supreme Archeparchy of the UGCC.
"The Kruty Heroes showed the greatest example of love for their homeland, an example of true patriotism and a willingness to sacrifice, which is a Christian virtue,” emphasized the participants of the prayer.
We would like to remind you that in 1918, about one hundred young people were killed for the future of Ukraine near the station of Kruty, on the railway section of Nizhyn-Bakhmach, 130 kilometers from Kyiv. The battle lasted six hours, but during that time our warriors managed to destroy the tracks and bridges, preventing the oncoming aggressors and stopping the enemy for four days. According to historians, this heroic battle made it possible to win the time for the Tsentralna Rada to reach the signing of the Brest-Lithuania Peace Treaty.
