The Council of Churches urges Ukrainians not to swear like the enemy does

"We are the noble warriors of Light – so we have no right to let evil thoughts, evil words, and even more so deeds reign over us at this time of a special test of our dignity and nobility,” - the AUCCRO emphasizes.

Religious figures of different faiths note that the people of Ukraine are now fighting for good and should become participants in building a new society, with new – God's standards, which will definitely bear its beautiful fruits:

”Let us restrain our mouths so as not to use foul language, and this will be a brick in the bright structure of our beautiful future."

In its appeal, the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations asks owners of advertising agencies, shops and cafés, various media outlets and publishers to realize their responsibility to the Almighty, present and future generations, especially children, and “not to allow manifestations of low-grade vulgarity” in the public space.

“When people say obscenities, they not only defile and stain their lips but also pour dirt into the ears of others, corrupt them with the content of obscenities, provoke to bad thoughts – sow evil, even without realizing it, because each word carries information that affects our consciousness, forms and changes it. A person's speech reflects their inner spiritual state. For out of the fullness of the heart, the mouth speaks.”

Dear brothers and sisters! Dear compatriots!

We have entered the third week of life in the conditions of dire military times. Despite all the horrors that we experience, being aware of our responsibility to God, our own conscience, previous, present and future generations, we all – the noble warriors of Light – have no right to let evil thoughts, evil words, and even more so deeds reign over us at this time of a special test of our dignity and nobility.

Being on the side of the light of God's truth, we must always remember that our enemy is darkness – the devil, whose principle of activity is to bring down human souls by any means. This is his tactic – to sow among people the seeds of anger, anger, cruelty, hatred, impurity, profanity, which are always indispensable companions of war.

Having free will granted to us by the Creator out of boundless love for us, we can choose evil and continue to spread it, first in our heart, then around – and so create a society of darkness. And even when we win this war, we will continue to help the devil sow the seeds of anger, hatred, anger and foul language for many years to come. The fruits of such sowing will be reaped by future generations, who will have anxiety, hostility, inability to fully love, inability to find their own happiness because they will be forced to take over what we have sown to the brim.

We must choose the good and, at the same time, become a participant in building a new society, with new – God's standards, which is sure to bear its beautiful fruits. Maybe we will put only a small brick in this structure of Love, which God wants to build in his plan, but when everyone adds a brick, what a big and beautiful building it will be! ”Let us restrain our mouths so as not to use foul language, and this will be a brick in the bright structure of our beautiful future."

In this regard, the whole essence of our struggle is most evident, because the enemy who attacked us everywhere shows his diabolical obsession through inhuman cruelty and profanity. Let us not be like him!”

We ask God for help so that he will help us drive the devil's temptations away from our hearts, and give his peace to our hearts, pour out his love, and then there will be a victory that gives incorruptible crowns of eternal life, which encourages God himself to stand up for his people. Let us pray today to remain faithful to God so that people do not lose faith in him and his justice and do not lose heart.

We conclude our appeal with a request from the above appeal: "We ask owners of various media outlets and publishers to realize their responsibility to the Almighty, present and future generations and not to allow manifestations of low-grade vulgarity in the air under your command, on the pages of newspapers and magazines and on the pages of books. And May the Almighty strengthen and bless us all on this righteous path."
