The head of the UGCC appealed to the world to stop Russian nuclear blackmail
This was stated by the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Sviatoslav, in his video address.
"However, today, we once again want to thank the Lord God and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, our girls and boys, for the fact that we are alive and can serve our Creator and the long-suffering Ukrainian people. And once again, we want to say: Ukraine stands! Ukraine fights! Ukraine prays!" said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
According to him, one of the news that has shaken Ukraine and the world is the statement by our President about the mining by Russian occupiers of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant.
"Comparing it to the disaster caused by the Russians at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant, we see a lot of similarities and all the signs that another crime is being prepared, about which one of the Russian generals said a year ago: 'Either this land will be Russian, or we will turn it into a nuclear desert,'" emphasized the Head of the UGCC.
The leader of the UGCC called for action: "We ask the whole world to do everything possible to stop nuclear blackmail, to stop the crimes that the Russians are planning to commit on our long-suffering Ukrainian land."
His Beatitude Sviatoslav urged to remind ourselves and the world of the cause of the war in order to be able to talk about a just peace as a remedy for this crime.
It is very important to understand what is the cause and what is the consequence here.
"We see that under the influence of Russian propaganda, many people in the world confuse these things. Some say that someone provoked Russia from the outside: whether it is geopolitical moves or military alliances. In fact, the reason lies within Russia itself - it is turning into a totalitarian state of the Stalinist type," emphasizes the Head of the Church.
And any alternative, in his conviction - whether it is at the societal level, like a free democratic Ukraine, or at the cultural level, like the Ukrainian people as a separate and distinct ethnic group, or the existence of a free democratic world, or even other forms of existence of world Orthodoxy - such a totalitarian structure perceives as a threat.
"Internal disease - the disease of communism, Stalinism, which is turning into the ideology of the 'Russian world,' from within pushes Russia to control the whole world. And this has become the cause, and everything else is just a consequence," emphasized the Head of the Church.
