The Head of the UGCC: "Lithuania is doing its best to bring our victory closer"
He stated this in his customary video address, the Information Department of the UGCC reports.
According to Patriarch Sviatoslav, Lithuanians deeply empathize with the Ukrainian people who have suffered greatly and are doing everything they can to help Ukraine move closer to its victory.
The Head of the UGCC noted that in Vilnius, which is celebrating its 700th anniversary this year, special spiritual events have taken place.
He said, "To thank God for the 400th anniversary of the martyrdom of Saint Josaphat, priests and representatives of the Ukrainian community from various parts of Lithuania, as well as from Latvia and Estonia, gathered here. Greek Catholics from Belarus also arrived. We visited the monastery where Saint Josaphat began his spiritual journey, prayed at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Vilnius, which at a certain period in the history of our Church was the residence of Kyiv Metropolitans."
At the same time, they had the opportunity to express gratitude to the hospitable Baltic nations for their open hearts and solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
"Lithuania is a strategic partner for us today, the voice of Ukraine among the nations of the European Union," emphasized the Head of the UGCC.
Blessed Sviatoslav also noted that this Sunday in Rome, a globally significant event is starting - the Papal Synod of Bishops. Three delegates from our Church have arrived: the Head of the Church, Bishop Bohdan Dziurakh, and Bishop Teodor Martynyuk.
"Together with the entire episcopate, clergy, and laity who are delegates of this Synod, we will pray and work with the Holy Father for the synodal journey of the Universal Church to serve the renewal of Christian life worldwide," said the Head of the UGCC, Sviatoslav.
