The Head of the UGCC prayed with Pope Francis for peace in Ukraine and the world
"Lord Jesus, enlighten the rulers. Lord Jesus, thwart the plans of war. Lord Jesus, dispel hatred. Lord Jesus, strengthen hope. Lord Jesus, reconcile all hearts. Lord Jesus, unite all nations. Lord Jesus, protect the poor and helpless. Lord Jesus, console those who suffer. Lord Jesus, receive those who have perished from violence," such a prayer was heard in the Basilica of Saint Peter in the Vatican on the evening of October 27. In response to each invocation, the prayer gathering responded, "Lord, grant peace to our days." This was reported by the UGCC Information Department.
In the Vatican, the main service as part of the Pope's initiative to pray and fast for peace in the world took place in the evening at the Basilica of Saint Peter and was personally led by His Holiness Pope Francis. The prayer event, which gathered numerous worshippers, including participants of the Synodal Assembly, where delegates from all corners of the world had gathered, began with the recitation of the Rosary and reflections on the sorrowful mysteries.
Subsequently, a litany to the Blessed Virgin Mary was recited, after which Pope Francis proclaimed a prayer specially composed for this occasion.
