The Secretariat of the Council of Churches discussed a number of topical social issues

This year, representatives of the Churches discussed the problems of religious organizations during martial law, including cases of mobilization of clergy as combatants. The participants also talked about the general situation in society in the context of mobilization activities and specific cases causing public outcry. In this context, the representatives of the Churches decided to prepare a corresponding appeal.
The Secretariat of the Council of Churches has planned the next steps in cooperation in the field of education. In particular, they intensified the work of the Education Commission of the Council of Churches and the relevant Public Council under the Ministry of Education and Science and exchanged thoughts regarding the "Defense of Ukraine" curriculum.
In the context of the Appeal of the Council of Churches to the people and authorities on socio-economic issues dated April 16, 2024, representatives of the Churches discussed further practical steps to establish a dialogue between churches, business and government, as well as support for Ukrainian business in times of war.
The meeting of the Secretariat of the Council of Churches was attended by authorized representatives of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, the All-Ukrainian Union of Associations of Evangelical Christian Baptists, the Ukrainian Church of Christians of Evangelical Faith, The Seventh-day Adventist Church of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Christian Evangelical Church, the Ukrainian Evangelical Church, the Ukrainian Lutheran Church, the Fellowship of Independent Churches and Missions of Evangelical Christian Baptists, and the Institute for Religious Freedom.
