The UGCC united three commissions into a new one - the UGCC Commission for Family and Lay People
The Primate of the UGCC united three commissions of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church: on Family Affairs, on Justice and Peace, and on Lay Affairs into one Commission of the UGCC on Family and Lay Affairs. The Head of the Church appointed Mr. Yuriy Pidlisny as the Chairman of the Commission. This is stated in the decree of the Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, dated October 12, 2020.
In his decree, the Head of the Church, recalling the history of the establishment of these three commissions by His Beatitude Lubomyr, noted that during their work they implemented many fruitful initiatives that helped the laity and, in particular, families to become active members of the Church.
"However, in view of the reorganization of the Patriarchal Curia, which, in accordance with the canon 124 of the CCEO, is carried out to improve the service of our Church to her faithful, in consultation with Bishop Kenneth Novakowski, we unite the three above-mentioned commissions into one," the document reads.
"May the Lord bless the work of all who will serve in this commission. We ask the Lord for generous graces and the help of the Holy Spirit for them,” the Primate of the UGCC wished.
By a separate decree, the Head of the Church appointed Mr. Yuriy Pidlisny Chairman of the UGCC Commission for Family and Lay Affairs for a term of three years.
