Trump may consider Orban's proposals for a “Christmas truce”
Waltz said this on CBS News on Sunday, Ukrinform reports.
“Orban is in regular contact with the Russians, and he clearly has a good relationship with President Trump. I hope that the whole world will want to see some kind of end to the carnage happening in the East of Ukraine,” Waltz said in response to a question about the idea of a “Christmas truce.”
“We have to stop the fighting. And, if there's some kind of ceasefire as a first step, we'll consider very carefully what that means,” he added.
Nevertheless, Waltz avoided commenting on the details of the proposal and the answer about the Trump administration's future policy toward Ukraine.
“Immediately after the election, everyone who comes to us, our European allies, President Zelensky and others, are discussing how to end the conflict,” Mike Waltz said.
On December 11, Orban said that Hungary had allegedly offered Ukraine a ceasefire and a large-scale exchange of prisoners of war for Christmas, but President Zelensky rejected the idea.
Commenting on Viktor Orban's phone conversation with Vladimir Putin, President Zelensky emphasized that talks about the war waged by Russia cannot take place without Ukraine.
