Patriarch Sviatoslav of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church called on the world to condemn the mass murder of Ukrainian prisoners of war in Olenivka as a special manifestation of savagery and cruelty.

He wrote about this on his Facebook page, according to LB.ua.

"What happened yesterday to Ukrainian prisoners of war, the world should condemn as a special manifestation of unacceptable behaviour, savagery and cruelty. Yesterday we saw footage of the terrible torture of a Ukrainian soldier, and then we received news that more than 50 Ukrainian prisoners of war were killed in the town of Olenivka in the Donbas," the head of the UGCC said to the audience.

He noted that yesterday simply stunned Ukraine and the world with examples of atrocities, crime and Russian cynicism.

"With what cynicism it was done! With what treachery it was committed! Thus, we see an attempt to intimidate the world and demonstrate these crimes. In the name of God, we condemn these atrocities, these crimes against humanity," the UGCC Primate added.

Patriarch Sviatoslav appealed to the moral conscience of people worldwide, the international community, leaders of churches and religious organizations, representatives of various institutions that rely on international law and all those who consider themselves human in the modern world.

"I appeal to each of you to condemn the crimes of the Russians! If we, as people, do not dissociate ourselves today and say a sharp "no" to atrocities and tortures, then tomorrow such behavior, unfortunately, may spread to the whole world," he said in a statement.
