Ukrainian Muslims sign a joint charter

On December 5, representatives of Muslim organizations signed a joint charter in Kyiv. The event brought together not only representatives of Islamic religious organizations, but also of female Muslim associations, voluntary movements and chaplain initiatives.

In the preamble, the Charter states that “Muslims today are an integral part of Ukrainian society.” The initiative is open and anyone who shares the position set out therein, can join.

The presented Charter, as well as similar European document - the “Charter of European Muslims” dated 2008, outlines the position of Muslims in societies where they form a religious minority.

It is noteworthy that the representatives of the Religious Administration of Muslims of Crimea (Mufti Emirali Ablaev), which remained under the occupation of the peninsula and head of the Muslim Religious Administration of Ukraine mufti Ahmed Tamim did not sign the Charter. RAMC and RAMU are the only Islamic organizations represented in the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations.

Note that no punishment is envisaged for violators of the Charter provisions, because, as Mufti Said Ismagilov said, Muslim believers rely in these matters on Allah, who is to ask those who violated the assumed agreement.
