Ukrainian Parliament passes bill to set up National Military Memorial Cemetery in Kyiv

The Ukrainian parliament has approved a bill to establish a National Military Memorial Cemetery in Kyiv, with 322 deputies voting in favor, according to MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak. The bill includes the allocation of land in the Dniprovsky district of Kyiv, near the village of Bykivnia, for the construction of the cemetery.
The National Military Memorial Cemetery will consist of a comprehensive complex of facilities and sites, including a military cemetery capable of accommodating 50,000 burials, a columbarium, a ceremonial building, and other essential structures required for organizing honorable burials, as well as a museum complex.
To finalize the concept and architectural design of the cemetery, an architectural competition will be held. The National Military Memorial Cemetery will cover an area of nearly 100 hectares. The establishment of this new state institution was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on October 4th, 2022.
